Which axes should I choose??

I'm kinda wondering 'bout whether these axes will suit me..

Like to play blues and some rock n roll stuffs..

Actually it's quite obvious which guitar should I choose..

The brand speak for themselves (and the price too)

But I kinda need second opinion though

Need a good-sweet-axe that I wouldn't regret to play for the rest of my life (well at least I hope so)

so here goes..

The first one is Fender stratocaster John Mayer series.. It's in Olympic white with alder body, C shape neck, maple for the neck and rosewood on fretboard..

John use this baby for almost entire Battle studies album.. The quality (is) of course unquestionable..

Unfortunately this sweet axe cost more than $2000 (include the shipping since nobody sell it in Brisbane) and it's pretty expensive for me..

Although I could work part time and save a money at the end of the month (if I could and I would)

Well the next one is squier classic vibe (CV) 60's Stratocaster..

It's the replica of old 60's strat.. Looks like our technician buddy in squier has leveled up their gear..

It has sunburst gloss, alder body, C shape neck with rosewood neck fretboard..

Although it is crafted in china, but this guitar sure is well crafted..

Most every forum that I read give high rating to this axe, with the proper of justification..

Many said that the finish body is not as good as MIA, the wood itself lacking any serious beauty, and the hardware is a bit under-whelming by comparison..

But it's still a good guitar to keep.. It cost about $300..

quite far from the Mayer's eh?

So that's it folks..

I don't want to spend guitar that is too expensive and surely don't want to regret buying the cheaper one..

Just let me know 'bout your opinion.. All fare and square dude

Just Another Story In a Day of Hannibal Nasserie

This is my third month in brisbane..

So far everything seem okay..

Well but not 'everything'..

I must admit life is fluctuate..

Depends how you described it..

Really fun here absolutely.. No parents.. No rules.. You can do everything you want.. Or I must say almost everything..

You can drink 'till you drunk..

Smoke weed 'till high..

Took 'alcid' so you touch the sky.. well at lest you feel like it..

No one tell you what you must or mustn't do..

Really enjoy that part dude..

But everything good has a price..

Yep and I do mean every words..

It's all bout money dude.. Cash, coin, income, profit, whatever you named it..

We all need money to survive..

And now I know the meaning of that words..

Last Friday my TV cable's and home phone been cut.. I forgot to pay the bill.. And that's not all..

Guess what?

The provider gave a fine also along with the bill..

So now I've got double-choke-sided-slam on my neck..

I have to pay the bill and the fine which is cost more than the bill..

Shit isn't it?

But that's not all.. I haven't pay the rent for this week and apparently I haven't pay for electricity either..

Crap Goddamn Shit Son Of a Bitch!!!!!!!!!

Feel like my head begin to explode..

I'll have final project next two weeks and final exam after that..

With the bill and rent problem, I don't think I'll be able to gain high GPA this semester..

Oh please Lord.. The Almighty one.. I beg you for mercy..

Show me your way so I can fulfill all my tasks and end this-money-thing-problem..

I guess I have to be patient and wait for my pray and my allowance next month to come..

I think I'll lived 'till that..

After all this is just another story in a day of Hannibal Nasserie

Sorry it took awhile since the last blog I posted..

There are lots of things that keep buzzing me..

The new info is now I'm actually living abroad at the land across the sea..

far away from my home land (well it take 6 to 7 hours by plane)

Anyway, I want to shared the result from my last

blog..

I finally

had my chance become the first-ever-frontman in a band..

I managed to established new trio-powerpop-blues-band..

I named it NIEBAL TRIO

The member are:

Me (Hannibal 'niebal' Nasserie) - Vocal, guitar, songwritter

Archie Arrahman - bass

and Saga Mahesa - drum

We play a blues-rock songs combine with some powerpop-slow-lovehearted songs too

We usually cover an old blues song from cream, Clapton, and most-of-all John Mayer!

Already have our own song, I'm gonna take a huge leap to my music career

I hope this is the best direction for me

About the live, we did our first gig at Bintaro Festival (Bifest)

They usually held some showcase every saturday night. It's a free show so everyone can enter and enjoy live music while order some food and drink

Niebal Trio is the last performer so we seem like the main show (smile :)

So this is it. I may not be the best vocalist (yet), but I let all my emotion come out and never hold back a single breath.

At the end, people are happy and cheering us. There some guy who's asking me to jam together someday.

Well, not bad for the first time right?

If you want to be a vocalist, don't wasted

your time to get better.

It's okay if you wanna practice first (take a vocal lesson for example) but remember, real live audience is different than your empty glass room.

Just be brave and do what you can do

Two weeks before I'm going to the land across the sea, suddenly I have a strange will..

Not to rob a bank of course..

And definitely not to get laid with two girls at the same time (definitely not!)

No no no..

Not that kind-of- weird-unusual-or so ever called-will..

Suddenly I want to sing a song..

Yep.. I want to become a vocalist..

It really strange cause I never ever act as a frontman before..

moreover I never sing at the stage in front of lots of people before..

I never took singing lesson before (or vocal lesson I guess?)

I know that my voice is awful and I can't sing as good as Glenn Fredly or Andre Hehanusa..

But I know that I have to be brave and sing out loud..

My former guitar teacher once told me that guitarist should sing.. No need to have a good voice as long as it doesn't out of tune..

That was the only vocal lesson I have in my entire life..

Well most of singer don't have an outstanding voice..

Look at Dylan.. I believe his voice is not as good as.... well you can say... Tom Jones..

But he's a legend.. He influenced lots of people to sing..

No matter what other people think, Dylan has his own style of sing and most people love him the way he is..

In Indonesia we have Iwan Fals..

His voice is waaaayyy out of tune.. Compare to Elfa's secoria students, Iwan Fals's voice is like radio AM..

But Iwan Fals is a legend.. Everybody know him.. Loves his song.. Buy his records.. And watch him live..

I do believe that singing is like letting out your inner light (or inner beauty but I prefer light)..

The key is let the audience feel your inner light..

Create your own characteristic..

No matter how good (or bad) your voice is, the audience will enjoy your performance..

So I will try to prove this theory..

I'll sing next Saturday and report this blog after the show..

Well I hope this will be useful for someone who's try to become singer but don't have a vocal background like me..

Me at Urbanfest 09

It's been a long time since the last time I wrote here. Many things happened of course.
Last yesterday I finally play on stage again (at last!!). It's been quite a long time since the last time I play on stage in front of many people (In Javarockinland if I'm not mistaken).
Anyway, I played in event called Urbanfest 09. It's located in pasar seni, Ancol, North-Jakarta. A lot of street cultures shows there. Things like skateboard, low-rider-bike, street basket, parkour (I'm not sure what is it?), and many mores.
Me and my band, Idealego, have to performed at movie stage.
It's quite awesome. Lots of white screen (since it's a movie stage yo!). Unfortunately, we are unable to use it cause we have to perform at 4.00 pm. And it's still sunrise so it's useless to put some video in that white screen.
Damn! What a waste!
The stage itself it's not so big. We only got three monitors. Yeah I repeat it, ONLY THREE MONITORS!
So we have to share each monitors. I have to share monitors with my bassist. I share a little with the other guitarist. We let the vocal have one monitors so the vocalist can sing it out loud without interruption from other instruments.
Finally 4.00 pm, it's showtime!!
I use fender telecaster for this show (thanx for my friend, Rendy Diodianto, for lending me this awesome guitar ;) ). We play it nice and cool. Although there are not many people watched us, but we don't care. We just play as if thousands people are watching us.
At the third song, I realize that in front of the crowd, there is a man that keep headbangin, follow the song's rhyme. Suddenly, he moves forward 'till the edge of stage and shows his hand to me. So I give him 'five' while playing with my guitar. That was so Rock 'n' Roll! Hell Yeahh!!
Thanx die-hard-fans! Whoever you are :) we salute you.
After 20 minutes, we finally end up our show. Many people cheers and salutes us (this is what I like in a concert)
I went to the dressing room to change my outfit. My friend help me pack up my riders (thanx a lot chie! you really give me a hand there).
After saying goodbye to other members of band, I went to some japanese restaurant nearby with my girlfriend. She has an event with his collegue there. I ate shabu-shabu. It was very delicious.
At 9.00 pm, I went back to pasar seni to watch a friend of mine perform. His name is Depe Gabe and he has a band called Tembang Pribumi which always cover traditional music (with their own style of course).
Depe sure is one of best bassist that I ever known. His skills and techniques were so amazing. The rest members of the band are so amazing too. They play songs like 'cublak-cublak suweng', 'gundul pacul', with some kind of jazzy tunes. Combine with traditional intruments like angklung and gamelan. It's so great. They even bring 'Dalang' to performed with them!
For you who doesn't know, 'Dalang' is a person who plays kind-of-puppet called 'wayang'. The different is, wayang made from leather so usually it's called 'wayang kulit'.
At 10.00 pm I had to drive my girl home. So I say goodbye to my friend and went outside pasar seni.
What a night to remember.
